Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant specializing in the oil and gas industry to join our team in Dallas, Texas. This role will focus on managing financial activities related to mineral rights, oil and gas revenue, and property reporting, while ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a proven ability to handle complex financial tasks in a dynamic environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Collaborate with the Accounting Manager
  • Record and review monthly oil and gas royalty revenues and ad valorem tax accruals
  • Conduct quarterly depletion analyses and annual impairment studies for unproved and proved property assets
  • Prepare detailed oil and gas royalty financial reports for executive leadership
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate well records using MineralSoft
  • Assist with the preparation, review, and analysis of monthly financial statements, reconciliations, and journal entries
  • Support tax-related workbooks and analyses for oil and gas income tax reporting
  • Evaluate mineral acquisitions and onboard newly acquired assets into the accounting framework
  • Review ad valorem tax payments and royalty deposits completed by staff accountants
  • Manage audit deliverables

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a senior-level role
  • Strong familiarity with oil and gas accounting practices, including royalty and property reporting
  • Experience in public accounting or with a publicly traded company
  • Proficiency in MineralSoft or similar systems is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare audit documentation for internal and external audits
  • Advanced knowledge of month-end close processes, general ledger management, and account reconciliations
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly and concisely
