Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Hartford, Connecticut. This role requires someone with a keen attention to detail and a strong background in corporate tax, sales tax, and general accounting practices. You will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with relevant regulations.

Job Responsibility:

Prepare and review corporate tax returns, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
Manage sales tax filings and address related inquiries to ensure accurate reporting
Perform detailed analysis and reconciliation of journal entries to maintain precise financial records
Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded
Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders
Collaborate with team members to improve accounting processes and workflows
Analyze financial data to identify trends and provide actionable insights
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures in all accounting activities
Support audits by providing required documentation and explanations
Stay informed about changes in tax laws and accounting standards, adapting processes as needed

Requirements:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on corporate tax and sales tax
Proficient in preparing corporate tax returns and managing sales tax filings
Strong knowledge of journal entry processes and general ledger maintenance
Solid understanding of financial reporting and compliance standards
Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
Familiarity with accounting software and tools
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Strong communication skills to effectively present financial information
