We are looking for a skilled Senior Accountant to join our team in Charlottesville, Virginia on a long-term contract basis. This role requires expertise in accounting operations and manufacturing environments, including proficiency with QuickBooks and familiarity with advanced financial systems. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting financial processes, ensuring accuracy, and contributing to the strategic goals of the organization.
Job Responsibility:
Manage monthly financial close processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion of journal entries and account reconciliations
Oversee general ledger maintenance, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded and aligned with company policies
Perform detailed bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly
Analyze financial data, prepare variance reports, and provide insights to support decision-making
Collaborate with leadership and operational teams to enhance financial systems and reporting
Implement automation improvements in financial processes to drive efficiency and scalability
Develop and maintain financial models to support manufacturing operations and inventory management
Support budgeting and forecasting activities by preparing detailed analyses and reports
Partner with auditors and other external stakeholders to ensure compliance and transparency
Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend strategies to improve profitability
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment
Proficiency in QuickBooks and strong familiarity with manufacturing cost accounting systems
Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights
Advanced knowledge of month-end close processes, general ledger management, and account reconciliations
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling
Excellent communication and organizational skills, with attention to detail
Nice to have:
Experience with automation projects or systems enhancement initiatives is a plus
