We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Portland, Oregon. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting audit preparation and resolving complex accounting issues. This position offers up to 30 hours per week with flexibility depending on organizational needs and budget performance.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare detailed audit schedules and compile requested information for auditors
Record necessary month-end closing entries to ensure accurate financial reporting
Conduct research on identified accounting discrepancies, propose solutions, and implement fixes
Perform periodic analysis of accounts receivable to maintain financial accuracy
Review payroll processes and assist with bank reconciliations as required
Provide support for accounts payable review and entry when needed
Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with organizational accounting standards
Assist in ad-hoc financial reporting and analysis to address immediate needs
Maintain accurate and organized financial records to support audit and operational processes
Requirements:
Proven experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
Strong knowledge of billing functions and account reconciliation
Expertise in general accounting practices, including month-end close procedures
Familiarity with non-profit accounting principles and practices
Experience with Abila MIP accounting software is highly desirable
Background in audit preparation and supporting auditors
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills to address financial discrepancies
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
