We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a growing IT software organization in Boston, Massachusetts on a contract-to-permanent basis. This role is ideal for someone who brings strong ownership of the month-end close process, a solid grasp of general ledger accounting, and the ability to work across fixed assets, reconciliations, and financial reporting activities. The position offers the opportunity to contribute in a fast-paced technology environment while partnering with cross-functional and international stakeholders to support accurate, timely accounting operations.
Job Responsibility
Lead the monthly close cycle from start to finish, ensuring deadlines are met and financial records are complete and accurate
Prepare and post journal entries, review account activity, and maintain the integrity of the general ledger in accordance with U.S. accounting standards
Perform detailed account and bank reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
Manage accounting for fixed assets, including capitalization, depreciation, amortization, and tracking of internally developed software and other intangible assets
Support project-related accounting activities by monitoring internal cost allocations, cross-charges, and client billing inputs where applicable
Partner with domestic and international teams to gather financial data, validate transactions, and improve coordination across accounting processes
Strengthen accounting operations by identifying opportunities to streamline procedures, increase consistency, and support standardized workflows within SAP or a similar ERP environment
Assist with audit readiness, compliance requirements, and oversight of high-volume transactional activity across accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
Provide day-to-day guidance to accounting staff and contribute to the development of a growing team structure
Requirements
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including substantial hands-on ownership of full month-end close activities
Demonstrated expertise in general ledger accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations
Strong experience with fixed asset accounting and the treatment of internally developed software and intangible assets, including capitalization and amortization
Background in ecommerce, technology, or similarly fast-paced environments with exposure to project accounting and intercompany or cross-charge processes
Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience supporting audit and compliance-related accounting activities
Proficiency with SAP is highly preferred
experience with comparable ERP platforms and advanced Excel skills is also valuable
Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including international stakeholders, while managing multiple priorities with accuracy and attention to detail
