Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Lockport, Illinois. This role involves managing critical financial operations, including month-end closings, reconciliations, and tax submissions, while ensuring compliance and accuracy. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in accounting systems and processes, along with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process optimization.

Job Responsibility:

Facilitate the month-end closing process for multiple organizational plants, ensuring timely and accurate completion
Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements to provide insights into company performance
Manage the submission of sales tax to various states, ensuring full compliance with regulations
Conduct account reconciliations, including cash and credit card transactions, to maintain accurate financial records
Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within accounting operations
Assist with system upgrades and conversions, leveraging expertise in SAP Business One
Provide weekly cash forecasts and support proactive financial planning
Coordinate audit fieldwork, overseeing testing processes to ensure compliance and completeness
Act as a backup for payroll and benefits functions to ensure continuity in these essential areas
Perform ad-hoc financial analyses to support strategic decision-making

Requirements:

Proven experience in month-end close procedures and general ledger management
Strong skills in preparing journal entries and performing account reconciliations
Proficiency in bank and cash reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy
Familiarity with SAP Business One and other accounting systems
Solid understanding of tax submission processes and compliance requirements
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize tasks effectively
Experience in conducting audits and handling audit fieldwork
Excellent analytical skills with a focus on identifying process improvements
