The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing a wide range of daily and monthly financial accounting activities. Responsibilities include account reconciliations and analysis, journal entry preparation, monthly close support, data analytics, financial record maintenance, and preparation of monthly financial reports. This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge and prior relevant experience.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll functions
Account for various revenue and expense streams
Record payroll, ticket receipts from online and phone sales, deferred ticket surcharge revenue, merchandise sales, food and beverage sales, and miscellaneous cash receipts
Prepare invoices as needed
Assist with month-end accruals and review balances against the trial balance
Prepare bank reconciliations
Reconcile and analyze General Ledger accounts, including bank accounts, accounts receivable, prepaid expenses, accounts payable, accrued liabilities, deferred revenue, and other assigned accounts
Review contracts and ensure proper revenue recognition
Gather, compile, analyze, and evaluate financial data from department heads for monthly financial statements
Respond to internal and external inquiries in a timely and professional manner
Ensure adherence to departmental policies and procedures
Prepare ad hoc reports and analyses
create and maintain audit schedules
and provide support for internal and external audits
Assist with corporate reporting, including bi-weekly event trackers, cash reports, and flash reports
Requirements:
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to work flexible hours when necessary
Professional demeanor and appearance
Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently
Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in accounting required
advanced degree in accounting preferred
Minimum of five years of related accounting or finance experience
CPA certification preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Word
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems
Experience with fund accounting preferred
Experience with general ledger accounting required
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail and comfort working with data and numerical information
Ability to communicate effectively with management regarding financial and operational matters
Strong knowledge of GAAP
Ability to work extended hours during monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing cycles
Ability to perform under pressure and meet strict deadlines
Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
Ability to accurately evaluate and enter information into a moderately complex financial accounting system
