Participate in critical accounting operations under the guidance of the Controller and Chief Financial Officer. Contribute directly to financial management and ensure the accuracy of accounting processes within a dynamic environment.
Job Responsibility:
Manage and maintain bank accounts, general ledger entries, and account reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy
Oversee invoice processing, approve transactions, and monitor incoming payments for proper recording
Prepare payroll reports and ensure timely biweekly payroll data entry
Assist in maintaining fixed asset schedules and tracking capital expenditures
Support external auditors by providing necessary documentation and financial statements during annual audits
Monitor and track costs related to construction projects and capital investments
Administer various insurance policies, including property, liability, and worker’s compensation, and participate in audits and renewals
Prepare and file essential reports such as the Secretary of State Annual Report, Occupational Licenses, and 1099 forms
Identify opportunities for process improvements in accounting procedures and report discrepancies to senior management
Undertake additional tasks as assigned to support the accounting department
Requirements:
Expertise in accounting software and advanced proficiency in spreadsheet tools
Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent software
In-depth understanding of accounting principles, standards, and regulations
Willingness to learn about the regulated utility industry and its accounting practices
Experience with Sage Intacct software is advantageous
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required
At least three years of relevant accounting experience
