We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Troy, Michigan. In this role, you will oversee key accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial records while driving process improvements and supporting compliance efforts. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Our client is open to candidates currently in public accounting who are interested in moving into an industry role. This is also a hybrid schedule - 2 days in office, three days remote!
Job Responsibility:
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules to maintain accurate financial records
Analyze and create financial statements in compliance with applicable regulations and standards
Ensure the integrity of the general ledger by identifying and resolving discrepancies
Collaborate with audit teams to support annual audits, tax filings, and regulatory requirements
Partner with FP&A and operational teams to assess financial trends and variances
Develop and enhance accounting policies, processes, and internal controls to improve operational efficiency
Contribute to special projects such as system implementations and process automation initiatives
Utilize advanced Excel skills to analyze and interpret financial data
Maintain a proactive approach to identifying areas for process improvement and optimization
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required
Minimum of 4-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with public accounting experience preferred
Strong knowledge of U.S. accounting standards and financial reporting
CPA designation or eligibility is strongly preferred
Familiarity with corporate consolidation, mergers and acquisitions, and private equity is advantageous
Proficiency in accounting systems and advanced Excel functions such as VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication abilities to convey complex financial information effectively
