Job Description:

The Sr. Accountant role involves management of financial processes in the Waste Management industry, focusing on general ledger, month-end close, accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. Responsibilities include preparing financial statements, assisting with audits, and participating in system implementations and process improvements.

Job Responsibility:

Manage and ensure the completeness and accuracy of general ledger
Accurately prepare and post journal entries
Prepare and maintain schedules for accruals and prepaids
Conduct account reconciliation and provide supporting documentation
Collaborate with other departments to collect and review financial information
Analyze financial data and provide explanations for variances
Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
Assist with audit processes, including preparation of audit schedules and response to audit inquiries
Participate in system implementations and special projects as required
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in accounting
Prepare, analyze and maintain monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports

Requirements:

BS in Accounting
CPA
2+ years of either public accounting on the audit side or public/private mix
strong GL and systems skills
