Our client is a growing construction company looking for a Senior Accountant to join their team located east of Upper Marlboro, Maryland. This role is essential to maintaining the integrity of their financial operations and ensuring compliance with established accounting standards. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in financial reporting, and month-end processes, while contributing to strategic planning and process improvements. This role is in the office with 1 day from home after a training period.

Job Responsibility:

Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in alignment with accounting standards
Lead month-end and year-end close procedures, ensuring all deadlines are met
Utilize accounting systems effectively to streamline financial management tasks
Ensure adherence to internal controls and regulatory compliance requirements
Provide support during external audits by preparing necessary documentation
Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and workflows
Generate ad-hoc reports and analyses to address management and operational needs

Requirements:

At least 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
certifications demonstrating attention to detail are a plus
Proficient in accounting systems and software, with expertise in month-end and year-end close procedures
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail
Effective communication and collaboration abilities, fostering teamwork across departments
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
