We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Glendora, California. This role requires a highly skilled individual who excels in financial management, accounting, and auditing within the education sector. The ideal candidate will bring leadership expertise, a strong understanding of governmental accounting principles, and proficiency with accounting software systems.
Job Responsibility:
Lead month-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all financial activities
Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining detailed records for general ledger accounts
Conduct account and bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies
Analyze and report on balance sheet accounts, providing insights for monthly reconciliations
Manage grant accounting processes, including compliance with federal and state regulations
Oversee payroll tax reporting, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws
Develop and administer budgets, including forecasting and allocation of resources
Monitor and evaluate fund accounting activities, ensuring alignment with organizational goals
Collaborate with departments and partner districts to ensure financial consistency and accuracy
Utilize accounting software and databases to streamline operations and improve efficiency
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field
At least five years of accounting experience with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail, preferably within a California school district office or Non-Profit setting
Proficiency in computerized accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications
Strong knowledge of governmental accounting principles and auditing practices
Familiarity with federal, state, and local grant reporting and compliance requirements
Demonstrated leadership experience in a business office setting within the education sector
Ability to interpret and apply accounting policies, procedures, and regulations effectively
Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills with attention to detail
