We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team in Stony Brook, New York, on a long-term contract basis. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilize your expertise in accounting processes such as month-end close, general ledger management, and reconciliations. The ideal candidate will bring a detail-oriented mindset and a strong ability to manage financial operations effectively.

Job Responsibility:

Oversee and execute month-end closing procedures to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
Maintain and manage the general ledger, ensuring all entries are properly recorded and reconciled
Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring compliance with accounting standards
Conduct thorough account reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies
Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accurate cash flow tracking
Utilize Yardi software for accounting tasks and financial management processes
Collaborate with team members to streamline accounting operations and improve efficiency
Ensure adherence to all financial regulations and internal policies
Provide support during audits by preparing and organizing required documentation
Analyze financial data to assist in strategic decision-making processes

Requirements:

Proven experience in accounting roles with a focus on month-end close and general ledger management
Proficiency in preparing journal entries and conducting account reconciliations
Strong knowledge of bank reconciliation processes
Familiarity with Yardi software is highly desirable
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines
Solid understanding of accounting principles and regulatory requirements
Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders
