Job Description:

Robert Half is seeking a Senior Accountant with expertise in non-profit financial operations to support a charity’s mission while ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. This professional will play a key role in financial management, reporting, and collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.

Job Responsibility:

Oversee the financial operations of the non-profit charity, ensuring accuracy and strict compliance with accounting standards and regulations
Prepare and review financial statements to reflect the organization’s financial health and performance accurately
Manage and reconcile accounts, including donations, restricted funds, and revenue, ensuring accurate recording and reporting
Ensure compliance with IRS non-profit tax and regulatory requirements, including IRS Form 990 filings
Collaborate with internal teams to improve financial processes and strengthen internal controls
Act as the main point of contact during audits, coordinating with external auditors and preparing all necessary schedules/documentation
Provide financial analysis and insights to senior leadership, donors, and stakeholders for strategic decision-making
Lead and mentor accounting staff and support volunteer workflows as needed
Facilitate the integration of the non-profit’s financial systems into a larger publicly traded company’s operational framework

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
CPA certification is a plus
5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years working in or with non-profit organizations
Deep understanding of non-profit accounting (e.g., fund accounting, grants management) and IRS regulations
Proficiency in accounting software (Oracle Fusion experience preferred) and advanced Excel skills
Knowledge of auditing best practices and experience coordinating audits
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, working both independently and as part of a team
Strong analytical skills, with sharp attention to detail
Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities for engaging with diverse teams and stakeholders
