Job Description:

Robert Half is seeking a Senior Accountant with expertise in non-profit financial operations to support a charity’s mission while ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. This professional will play a key role in financial management, reporting, and collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee the financial operations of the non-profit charity, ensuring accuracy and strict compliance with accounting standards and regulations
  • Prepare and review financial statements to reflect the organization’s financial health and performance accurately
  • Manage and reconcile accounts, including donations, restricted funds, and revenue, ensuring accurate recording and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with IRS non-profit tax and regulatory requirements, including IRS Form 990 filings
  • Collaborate with internal teams to improve financial processes and strengthen internal controls
  • Act as the main point of contact during audits, coordinating with external auditors and preparing all necessary schedules/documentation
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to senior leadership, donors, and stakeholders for strategic decision-making
  • Lead and mentor accounting staff and support volunteer workflows as needed
  • Facilitate the integration of the non-profit’s financial systems into a larger publicly traded company’s operational framework

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA certification is a plus
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years working in or with non-profit organizations
  • Deep understanding of non-profit accounting (e.g., fund accounting, grants management) and IRS regulations
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Oracle Fusion experience preferred) and advanced Excel skills
  • Knowledge of auditing best practices and experience coordinating audits
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, working both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical skills, with sharp attention to detail
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities for engaging with diverse teams and stakeholders
