Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This is a Contract to permanent position offering the opportunity to contribute to financial operations and ensure accuracy in critical accounting processes. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in managing day-to-day accounting tasks, preparing financial statements, and supporting audits.

Job Responsibility:

Oversee daily accounting operations, including journal entries and account reconciliations
Maintain and analyze the general ledger to ensure accurate financial reporting
Prepare and review monthly financial statements in compliance with accounting standards
Perform bank reconciliations and manage cash disbursements efficiently
Assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and support
Monitor fixed assets using Sage software and ensure proper accounting for depreciation
Enhance the utilization of accounting software to improve operational efficiency
Support payroll processing and ensure compliance with company policies
Collaborate with the Controller to address accounting challenges and develop improved processes
Ensure adherence to financial regulations and company policies in all accounting practices

Requirements:

Proven experience with month-end close processes and financial reporting
Strong knowledge of general ledger maintenance and reconciliation
Proficiency in preparing journal entries and performing account reconciliations
Familiarity with bank reconciliation processes and cash management
Experience with fixed asset accounting and depreciation using Sage software
Ability to assist in audits and provide accurate financial documentation
Competency in payroll processing and related financial systems
Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
