We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Chicago, Illinois. This is a long-term contract position designed for a detail-oriented individual with over seven years of accounting experience. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in financial processes and a deep understanding of accounting principles to support the organization’s goals.

Job Responsibility:

Oversee the month-end close process to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
Manage the general ledger, maintaining detailed and organized records
Prepare and post journal entries while ensuring compliance with accounting standards
Perform account reconciliations to verify the accuracy of financial data
Conduct bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly
Analyze financial statements to identify trends and provide actionable insights
Collaborate with internal teams to improve efficiency in accounting processes
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies
Assist in the preparation of audits and provide necessary documentation
Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement within accounting operations

Requirements:

Minimum of seven years of accounting experience with a focus on accuracy and detail
Expertise in month-end close procedures and general ledger management
Proficient in preparing journal entries and conducting reconciliations
Strong analytical skills for evaluating financial data and reports
Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles and standards
Familiarity with bank reconciliation processes and resolving discrepancies
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
