We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team in New York, New York. In this role, you will manage complex financial processes and analyses related to vessel accounting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in financial reporting, reconciliation, and variance analysis while collaborating across departments to support operational and commercial goals.
Job Responsibility:
Reconcile assigned pool balances by recording pool days, revenue, and undistributed pool earnings in the general ledger
Analyze changes in pool points to assess their impact on earnings, identifying and addressing unusual prior period adjustments
Prepare and issue time charter invoices, rebills, and credits to charterers, ensuring compliance with accounting standards
Collaborate with commercial and operations teams on periods when vessels are not in service, vessel deliveries, redeliveries, and related issues
Assist in drydocking processes by compiling data, booking monthly amortization expenses, and managing closing procedures
Review and process broker commission invoices for payment and coordinate with accounts payable
Prepare balance sheet reconciliation schedules for significant vessel balances or consolidated accounts as needed
Work with the treasury team to ensure accurate general ledger coding and application of cash receipts from pools or charterers
Conduct budget versus actual variance analyses for revenues and generate consolidated days reports
Provide support during annual audits by gathering documentation and explaining selected samples to auditors
Requirements:
Accounting/Finance degree
5+ years of Accounting experience
Shipping Industry or SEC reporting experience required
