Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Melville, New York. In this long-term on-site contract role, you will play a vital part in managing financial processes, ensuring accuracy, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong attention to detail who is seeking to contribute to a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Job Responsibility:

Oversee and execute month-end close procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting
Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded
Prepare and post journal entries to support the accounting cycle
Conduct account reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies
Perform thorough bank reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy
Research and interpret accounting guidance on complex topics such as ASC 606 and ASC 842 and prepare technical accounting memos as needed using established internal accounting guidance
Analyze financial data and provide insights to support decision-making processes
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address accounting-related inquiries and issues
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal accounting policies
Assist with audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to requests
Continuously improve accounting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA or progress toward CPA preferred
4–6+ years of proven experience in accounting with a strong understanding of month-end close processes
Expertise in managing general ledger activities and journal entries
Proficiency in performing account and bank reconciliations
Experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition and/or ASC 842 lease accounting
Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance standards
Familiarity with ERP systems such as NetSuite
Advanced Excel skills
Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively with teams and communicate effectively
Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
