Job Description:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Kansas City, Missouri. This role involves overseeing project accounting, financial reporting, and reconciliation processes while collaborating with various departments to ensure accuracy and compliance. The position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor team members, as well as expertise in cost accounting and system maintenance.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage all aspects of project accounting, including setup, maintenance, invoicing, and collections
  • Perform monthly revenue reserve analyses to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Reconcile sub-ledgers, such as the Job Cost Sub Ledger, with the General Ledger, ensuring consistency in financial data
  • Oversee the reconciliation of interface transmissions across accounting modules, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll
  • Review, post, and adjust journal entries related to the Job Cost system to maintain accuracy
  • Collaborate with project managers and teams to update monthly financials and provide insights
  • Lead the preparation and presentation of cost accounting data to support decision-making at various leadership levels
  • Conduct user testing for system upgrades and patches to ensure seamless functionality
  • Coordinate external audit requests and assist with year-end rate retro processes
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced staff while ensuring adherence to quality assurance and compliance standards.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software tools
  • strong understanding of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll processes
  • demonstrated ability to prepare and review journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
  • experience in financial reporting, forecasting, and cost accounting
  • knowledge of compliance policies and external audit procedures
  • excellent communication and leadership skills to guide and mentor team members
  • ability to perform ad hoc financial analysis and present findings effectively
  • familiarity with system upgrades and testing protocols.
