Job Description:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing core accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, payroll support, and process improvement initiatives. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work cross-functionally to support accurate and timely financial operations.

Job Responsibility:

  • Prepare and post complex journal entries
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Ensure financial reporting is accurate and complies with GAAP
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances
  • Serve as the primary backup for payroll processing
  • Coordinate with HR on payroll changes, benefits, and deductions
  • Assist with payroll reporting and year-end filings (e.g., W-2s, 941s)
  • Support and provide oversight to team members handling AR and AP functions
  • Review transactions for accuracy and adherence to internal policies
  • Assist with resolving escalated issues and identifying process improvements
  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline accounting workflows
  • Create and maintain Excel-based tools and templates to enhance efficiency
  • Partner with internal teams to optimize financial systems and reporting tools

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger and period-end close
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, macros)
  • Experience with accounting and payroll systems (e.g., ERP platforms)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives and support junior team members
  • Familiarity with financial automation tools (e.g., Power BI, Alteryx) is a plus
  • Knowledge of internal controls and audit preparation
  • Manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred
