Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in DeSoto, Texas. This role is ideal for someone who excels in financial reporting and reconciliation tasks. You will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of accounting records while contributing to month-end close processes.

Job Responsibility:

Manage the month-end close process, ensuring all financial records are accurately completed and submitted on time
Oversee general ledger activities, including preparing and reviewing journal entries
Perform detailed account reconciliations to verify the accuracy of financial data
Conduct bank reconciliations to ensure alignment between internal records and external statements
Utilize Tyler Technologies Munis software to analyze, extract, and map financial data
Identify and analyze variances in accounts to provide insights into discrepancies
Develop and apply advanced Excel formulas to streamline data management and reporting
Collaborate with team members to support the implementation of accounting systems or processes
Ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards and regulations in all financial activities

Requirements:

Proven experience in month-end close processes and financial reporting
Strong knowledge of general ledger functions and journal entry preparation
Expertise in performing account reconciliations and bank reconciliations
Familiarity with Tyler Technologies Munis software is highly preferred
Ability to analyze financial variances and provide actionable insights
Proficiency in data extraction and mapping for accurate financial reporting
Advanced skills in Excel formulas and data manipulation
Background in governmental accounting or similar industries is a plus
