The Opportunity This role joins a small, close-knit finance team that supports multiple locations across the Prairies. Reporting to the Controller, you’ll play a key role in ensuring financial operations run smoothly, accurately, and consistently across multiple legal entities. You’ll be hands-on, involved in the details, and trusted as a go-to person within the accounting function. Job Responsibility:
Overseeing core accounting functions, including AP, AR, payroll, inventory, and general ledger across multiple entities
Preparing and reviewing day-to-day accounting transactions and journal entries with accuracy and timeliness
Reviewing monthly bank reconciliations for Canadian and U.S. accounts
Supporting month-end close activities, financial reporting, and key performance metrics
Performing variance and margin analysis to ensure proper revenue and expense recognition
Assisting with monthly financial statements, budgets, and forecasts
Supporting year-end audit processes and coordinating audit requests
Handling required provincial and federal tax filings
Collaborating across teams to streamline workflows and improve accounting systems
Participating in cross-training to support coverage within the finance team
Contributing ideas to improve processes, efficiency, and consistency
Supporting special projects and initiatives as the business continues to evolve
Requirements:
Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or business
5+ years of progressive full-cycle accounting experience, including reporting and analysis
CPA designation preferred (or actively working toward it)
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage tight deadlines
Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
Clear, confident communication and strong organizational abilities
Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with modern accounting tools
Experience with multiple legal entities is a strong asset
Background in manufacturing, construction, or steel fabrication is an advantage
Willingness to occasionally travel to other Prairie locations
