Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Port Huron, Michigan. This is a long-term contract position ideal for someone with a strong background in accounting and financial reporting. The role involves overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance, and contributing to the accuracy and integrity of financial statements.

Job Responsibility:

Prepare detailed financial statements and ensure their accuracy and compliance with regulations
Manage audit processes and fulfill documentation requirements
Perform account reconciliations and maintain accounting policies
Research and apply relevant regulations for special accounting scenarios
Oversee accounting and reporting activities for the organization’s charitable foundation
Review financial reports and statements to verify completeness and accuracy
Collaborate with teams to ensure compliance with regulatory and tax reporting standards
Handle month-end close tasks, including journal entries and general ledger maintenance
Conduct bank reconciliations and monitor financial transactions
Utilize software tools such as Microsoft Excel and proprietary systems to enhance efficiency

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
At least 5-10 years of progressive accounting experience
familiarity with the financial services industry is a plus
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or active candidacy is preferred
Solid understanding of financial statements and key accounting principles
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and the ability to learn new software
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a detail-oriented approach
Proven ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

Nice to have:
