Job Description:

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in San Jose, California. This role is ideal for professionals with extensive experience in accounting for banking or credit union institutions. You will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with the controller and contribute to critical financial operations.

Job Responsibility:

Handle month-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting
Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, identifying and resolving discrepancies
Prepare and post journal entries to support ongoing accounting functions
Conduct account reconciliations, verifying balances and ensuring compliance with financial standards
Perform bank reconciliations to support accurate cash flow management
Collaborate with banking and brokerage teams to ensure seamless financial operations
Support retail banking financial processes, providing clear and accurate reports
Prepare board reports, detailing key financial data and insights
Assist in developing Excel-based reports to support data analysis and decision-making
Work closely with the controller to address complex accounting issues and improve processes

Requirements:

Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably within a banking or credit union environment
Proficiency in month-end close, general ledger maintenance, and journal entry preparation
Strong skills in account and bank reconciliations
Familiarity with financial operations in banking, brokerage, or retail banking
Advanced proficiency in Excel for developing and analyzing reports
Ability to prepare board-level financial reports with accuracy and clarity
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Strong communication and collaboration abilities, especially when working with senior leadership
