The Senior Accountant of Inventory Control is primarily responsible for the accounting accuracy of Inventory Merchandise within the Company’s financial statements as well as the preparation of various schedules, reconciliations, and account variance analyses relating to the monthly closing process. Additionally, this position is responsible for verification, analysis, correction and reporting of inventory transactions that impact the stock ledger and other related systems. This position requires significant independence in pursuing results by engaging business partners for solutions.
Job Responsibility
Responsible for the various monthly account analysis, reconciliations and journal entry preparation for Inventory Related Accounts
Responsible for the development, analysis, and distribution of various inventory reports and communications to management of inventory related financial and operational trends
Responsible for balancing inventory activity between systems and resolution of unit/dollar variances between various systems (SAP, WMS, ATG, JDA)
Responsible for budgeting and forecasting of inventory related accounting
Develop a level of proficiency with all financial and information systems as they relate to current position
Support Accounting/Finance Department’s goals through assisting in monthly variance analysis, analysis relating to external audits and various special projects
Assist in designing and implementing stronger internal controls, SOX compliance, developing documentation and improving organization of inventory processing and reporting
Assists in improving the overall quality and efficiency related to your area of responsibility and overall inventory processes and system flow
Assist with special projects within the inventory control and finance area including but not limited to reporting, new business processes, and inventory studies
Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with other departments to facilitate information sharing and adjusting to business changes
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or other business-related field preferred
3-5 years business related experience in a retail organization preferred
Strong knowledge with Excel spreadsheet skills and ability to work with large amounts of data and system interface files
Proven analytical and problem solving skills, including issue identification and resolution
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Effective time management skills with ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
Professional oral and written communication skills
Highly motivated self-starter
SAP and BI experience preferred
Ability to accept and adapt to a fast-paced changing environment
Nice to have
SAP and BI experience preferred
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or other business-related field preferred
3-5 years business related experience in a retail organization preferred
