Job Description

An established insurance company based in Southern New Hampshire is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its corporate accounting function. This role offers broad exposure to financial reporting, insurance accounting, and the rollout and ongoing application of IFRS 17. The Senior Accountant will work cross-functionally with finance and actuarial partners to support accurate and compliant reporting.

Job Responsibility

  • Perform advanced accounting functions for multiple legal entities
  • Prepare and review financial statements, supporting analyses, and account reconciliations
  • Participate in monthly and quarterly close processes, including journal entry preparation
  • Assist with SOX controls, audit requests, and compliance initiatives
  • Review and analyze loss-related programs to ensure appropriate accounting treatment
  • Support the preparation of quarterly and annual reporting packages
  • Contribute to statutory (NAIC) filings and internal management reporting
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of IFRS 17 standards
  • Collaborate closely with actuarial teams on data validation and financial results
  • Help enhance accounting processes to improve scalability and efficiency
  • Provide mentorship and technical support to less experienced team members
  • Support special projects and ad hoc reporting as needed

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of relevant accounting experience within an insurance environment
  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, statutory accounting, and IFRS
  • Experience with financial systems and managing large or complex datasets
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related discipline required

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with SQL or data tools is a plus
  • Prior exposure to IFRS 17 preferred
  • CPA designation and/or Master’s degree preferred
