Job Description

We are partnering with a manufacturing organization in Oklahoma to identify an experienced Senior Accountant / Cost Accountant to support financial operations and reporting. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with a strong foundation in general ledger and month‑end close, paired with hands‑on experience in manufacturing cost accounting. The position plays a key role in analyzing production costs, maintaining inventory accuracy, and supporting reliable financial reporting.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead and support monthly close activities, including preparing close schedules, reviewing account balances, and ensuring accurate and timely completion
  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries while maintaining the integrity of the general ledger
  • Perform detailed balance sheet and income statement reconciliations, investigating and resolving variances
  • Complete bank reconciliations and research discrepancies between system records and actual activity
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and provide clear explanations of financial and operational performance
  • Analyze manufacturing costs, including labor, materials, overhead, and variances versus standard costs
  • Maintain and update standard costs, including supporting annual cost roll‑ups and periodic adjustments
  • Review and reconcile inventory accounts, including raw materials, WIP, and finished goods
  • Partner with operations and production teams to understand cost drivers and support process improvements
  • Assist with variance analysis related to production efficiency, scrap, yield, and absorption
  • Support physical inventory counts and cycle counts, including reconciliation and reporting
  • Ensure proper accounting treatment for inventory capitalization, overhead allocation, and production expenses
  • Maintain accounting records in SAP Financials (or similar ERP) and support transaction accuracy and reporting integrity
  • Assist with internal controls, process documentation, and audit support as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of cost accounting experience, with progressive responsibility in a senior-level role
  • Strong hands-on experience with month-end close, general ledger accounting, and journal entries
  • Solid background in account reconciliations, including inventory and bank reconciliations
  • Experience supporting financial statements, variance analysis, and management reporting
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting principles, including standard costing and inventory accounting
  • Proficiency with SAP Financials or another enterprise ERP system
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to meet recurring deadlines
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively with both finance and operations teams
