Requirements

Proven experience in accountancy within practice – 5 years minimum
Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence in managing client relationships
Strong knowledge of tax and accounting standards (ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent preferred but not essential – QBE will be considered also)
A proactive, solutions-focused approach to client needs
Leadership and team collaboration skills

Job Responsibility

This is a client-facing role where you will be responsible for building trusted relationships through regular communication, proactive support, and tailored advice
Review work prepared by junior staff and offer mentorship to support their development
Identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance client experience
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and deadlines
Prepare financial statements in compliance with UK accounting standards (FRS 105, FRS 102 1A, and full FRS 102)
Maintain and update bookkeeping records on Xero, Sage Line 50, and other cloud platforms
Process financial transactions, reconcile accounts, and ensure accuracy in the general ledger
Assist in financial reporting, trend analysis, and management accounts reporting
Manage VAT workings, reconciliations, and VAT return preparation
Knowledge of UK tax

Fully qualified and experienced practice accountant
High level review of accounts, tax computations and financial statements
Advising Clients on complex technical matters including tax planning and structuring
Oversight of preparation and filing of statutory accounts under FRS 102 and FRS 105
Providing insight into management accounts, KPIS, and business performance
Ensuring technical accuracy and regulatory compliance across all work
Keeping up to date with changes in accounting and tax legislation and ensuring team compliance
Supporting implementation of new accounting standards and regulatory updates across the business
Proficient in accounting software including Xero, Quickbooks Online, Freeagent, Sage 50/Sage Business Cloud
Comfortable working with digital document and workflow systems

Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting
Understanding of governmental or fund accounting principles preferred

Prepare and analyze financial reports and schedules for internal management, external auditors, and regulatory agencies
Support annual audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor requests
Assist with budget preparation, monitoring, and variance analysis
Perform account reconciliations related to cash, revenue, benefits, and other assigned balance sheet accounts
Assist with pension reporting, actuarial schedules, and related financial updates
Calculate and process monthly sales tax reports
Enter miscellaneous cash receipts and revenue transactions
