Job Description

A growing organization in the Waterloo area is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant for a contract engagement to support core accounting functions, reporting, and month-end close. This role will play a key part in ensuring accurate financials and supporting ongoing accounting initiatives.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage and support month-end and year-end close processes
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger activity
  • Assist with financial statements and internal reporting
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
  • Support audit requests and provide documentation as needed
  • Analyze variances and investigate discrepancies
  • Collaborate with AP/AR and other finance team members as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 4+ years of general ledger or senior-level accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, Dynamics, etc.)
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP preferred)
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a contract environment
