Serve as senior advising professional for Seventh College students at all levels. Provide online and in-person academic advising on degree requirements, University policies and procedures, and academic opportunities. Help students develop academic plans that align with their personal and professional goals. Determine applicability of transfer coursework to fulfill academic requirements. Provide enrollment advising and transition support for incoming students. Guide undeclared students through the major exploration process and assist students with changing majors. Monitor students' records to ensure academic progress and compliance with requirements and policies. Make decisions on requests for exceptions to academic requirements and regulations. Counsel students experiencing academic difficulty and discuss options and alternatives. Provide referrals to campus resources and services as appropriate. Participate in the academic standing review process including disqualification and readmission. Evaluate records of graduating seniors for completion of requirements and communicate with students as needed. Develop and deliver advising related programs and services to meet the needs of targeted populations. Serve on College and University committees. Act as liaison to academic departments and campus-wide student support offices; interact with faculty, families, and the general public.

Requirements
Thorough knowledge of advising and counseling techniques
Knowledge of multiple majors, colleges, and schools
Excellent counseling and advising techniques, including active listening, interviewing, and referral, and a thorough understanding of their appropriate use in an institutional setting
Thorough knowledge of college / school policies, procedures, and requirements
Demonstrated ability to independently analyze, interpret, and explain a variety of broadly defined college, departmental, and campus academic policies and procedures
Willingness and ability to meet University and department standards for attendance and embrace and follow the UCSD Principles of Community
Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving
Demonstrated skills and abilities in problem solving and conflict resolution with the ability to exercise sound judgement, tact, cultural sensitivity, and diplomacy
Excellent skills in evaluating academic data and academic records in order to make analytical decisions and determine course of actionwithin established policies and guidelines as appropriate
