Job Description:

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in the London Borough of Merton is seeking a qualified SENDCo to join their team on a part-time basis. As SENDCo, you will be a key member of the leadership team in this vibrant and diverse school. You will be responsible for coordinating provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) and for working closely with the senior leadership team to develop and implement the school’s SEND policy. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all pupils with SEND are well supported, make strong progress, and receive consistent, high-quality provision across the school. This is a non-class-based role, though leading targeted intervention groups will be part of the remit.

Job Responsibility:

  • Maintaining and updating the school’s SEND register
  • Supporting and working in partnership with parents and carers, including planning and leading regular reviews and updates
  • Liaising with external agencies and professionals
  • Providing specialist advice and support to teachers and support staff
  • Working alongside class teachers to write and review Personal Learning Plans (PLPs)
  • Preparing and managing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Organising and delivering SEND-related training to ensure staff feel confident meeting pupils’ needs
  • Planning and leading SEND intervention groups across the school
