Job Description:

SEND Teaching Assistant – Flexible short-term and long-term opportunities available immediately. These flexible opportunities are ideal for support staff who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different school settings. You will be supporting pupils in Hammersmith and the surrounding areas, helping them access learning and develop confidence, independence, and essential life skills.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEND
  • Assist teachers in delivering differentiated and accessible learning activities
  • Help implement individual education plans and personalised support strategies
  • Support pupils with communication, sensory, behavioural, or emotional needs
  • Promote a positive, calm, and inclusive learning environment
  • Assist pupils with personal care needs where required
  • Monitor and record pupil progress and share observations with staff
  • Contribute to wider school routines during longer-term placements

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND
  • Understanding of strategies for autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, or learning difficulties
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
  • Confident using behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
  • Adaptable across different year groups and learning environments
  • Professional, reliable, and proactive
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
