This full-time role operates on a long-term, ad-hoc supply basis across three specialist school sites in the Castleford and Wakefield areas. Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (Term-time only). Start Date: September 2026. Contract: Long-term / Ad-hoc supply basis. Locations: Shared across specialist sites in Castleford and Wakefield.
Job Responsibility
Providing tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils to ensure they can fully access the curriculum and specialised learning resources
Assisting class teachers across the Castleford and Wakefield sites in managing classroom dynamics and maintaining a positive learning environment
Supporting students with their personal care, mobility, and sensory regulation needs throughout the school day
Monitoring and recording student progress, boosting their self-esteem, and strictly adhering to all safeguarding protocols
Requirements
Right to Work: Full eligibility to work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available for this role)
DBS: An enhanced DBS check on the update service, or a willingness to undergo a new check via Randstad
Experience: Previous experience working with children or young adults within a UK educational or care setting
Transport: The ability to reliably travel to the designated sites in Castleford and Wakefield as required by the school's needs
Proven experience supporting children or young people with complex needs, such as autism, physical disabilities, or severe learning difficulties
A highly adaptable mindset and the willingness to work comfortably across different school sites depending on daily or weekly requirements
Strong interpersonal abilities to effectively interact with non-verbal or communication-impaired pupils
A calm, encouraging, and professional approach when supporting students who face barriers to learning or display challenging behaviours
