Job Description:

justteachers is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Burnley starting in January 2026. Job Responsibility:

Support students with special educational needs, providing tailored assistance to meet their individual learning requirements
Work closely with the class teacher to implement differentiated teaching strategies and create a positive learning environment
Assist in the development and delivery of learning activities for students with a variety of needs, including academic, social, and emotional support
Help students with personal care tasks, including toileting and feeding, where necessary
Promote independence, confidence, and emotional development in students with SEND
Assist in the monitoring and assessment of student progress, providing feedback to the teacher to ensure each student’s success
Work closely with other members of the school staff and external agencies to ensure students receive the best possible support
Maintain a calm and structured environment, helping students engage fully in their lessons

Requirements:

Previous experience working with children with SEND, including those with physical or learning disabilities, is highly desirable
A patient, compassionate, and flexible approach to supporting students with a range of needs
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
An understanding of how to implement differentiated learning strategies to support diverse learning needs
Ability to stay calm and positive, even in challenging situations
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one)
Must meet the minimum experience, training or qualifications stated
Must have the legal right to work in the UK
