Job Description:

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Burnley is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This long-term opportunity is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs and helping them to achieve their full potential.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide targeted support to pupils with SEND, either 1:1 or in small groups
  • Assist with learning activities, adapting resources to meet individual needs
  • Support pupils’ emotional, social, and communication development
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individual support plans
  • Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, and independence
  • Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND (school-based experience preferred)
  • Understanding of strategies to support a range of additional needs
  • Patient, caring, and proactive approach
  • Ability to provide two school-based or education-related references
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
