AK Teaching is working with a dedicated and inclusive school in Sheffield, looking for a compassionate and experienced Teaching Assistant providing education and support for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The students have a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties, Speech, Language, and Communication Difficulties (SPLCD), and challenging behaviours.
Job Responsibility:
Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEND
Assist with the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies
Work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a tailored learning experience for each student
Support students in developing their social and emotional skills
Assist with personal care and daily living activities as needed
Contribute to the planning and delivery of lessons and activities
Monitor and record students’ progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as required
Requirements:
Relevant qualifications in education or a related field are desirable
Experience working with children with SEND, particularly those with ASD, SEMH, SPLCD, and challenging behaviours
Team Teach qualification or a willingness to undertake this training is preferred
Strong resilience and the ability to remain calm and effective in challenging situations
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents
A genuine passion for supporting and making a positive difference in the lives of children with SEND
