We are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre (SILC) in the South Leeds area. This is a full-time position with the potential to transition from temporary to permanent for the right candidate. You will be working within a school that caters to pupils aged 2-19 with a diverse range of needs, including severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), and complex medical needs. Job Responsibility:
Support Learning: Adapt classroom activities to meet the individual needs of pupils, ensuring lessons are accessible and engaging
Personal Care: Assist with personal care, feeding, and mobility (training will be provided where necessary)
Behaviour Management: Use de-escalation techniques to support students with sensory processing needs or challenging behaviours
Communication: Utilise specialist communication tools such as Makaton, PECS, or AAC devices to help non-verbal students express themselves
Collaborate: Work closely with Class Teachers, Therapists, and parents to track and support student progress
Requirements:
Enhanced DBS: A DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for a new one)
Right to Work: Valid eligibility to work in the UK
Experience: Proven experience working with children or adults with SEND (Severe/Profound Learning Difficulties or Autism preferred)
Qualifications: Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 TA, Health & Social Care, or equivalent experience)
