This setting supports students aged 11-19 with a wide spectrum of needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. The school is known for its inclusive community feel and its dedicated staff who provide a balance of therapeutic care and life-skills education. The Role: Position: SEND Teaching Assistant. Contract: Full-time. Daily Rate: £98 - £140 (depending on experience). This is a rewarding role requiring a versatile approach. You will spend your day supporting students who have profound physical and learning disabilities, while also being able to offer firm but empathetic guidance to those who face emotional and behavioural barriers to learning.
Job Responsibility:
Diverse Support: Transitioning smoothly between providing intensive personal care (feeding/changing/moving) and supporting SEMH students with emotional regulation
Communication: Utilising specialised tools like Makaton, PECS, or sensory cues to engage with non-verbal learners
Resilience: Maintaining a calm, patient, and professional manner when supporting students during periods of emotional distress
Teamwork: Working alongside a multidisciplinary team to follow individualised Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs)
Requirements:
Enhanced DBS: On the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for a new one)
Right to Work: Valid eligibility to work in the UK
Experience: Previous experience supporting children or adults with PMLD, complex needs, or SEMH
Qualifications: Relevant Level 2/3 TA or Health & Social Care qualification is preferred
