We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant further education college in York. This is a full-time position (Monday to Friday) designed for someone who is committed to fostering an inclusive learning atmosphere where every student has the opportunity to succeed.
Job Responsibility:
Providing 1:1 or small group support to students with a variety of SEND requirements (e.g., Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or physical disabilities)
Assisting subject tutors in adapting lesson materials to meet individual learning plans
Helping students develop social skills, independence, and confidence within a college setting
Monitoring student progress and providing regular feedback to the SEND Coordinator
Ensuring a safe and inclusive environment by managing classroom behaviour effectively
Requirements:
A genuine desire to support young people facing barriers to learning
The ability to pivot your approach based on a student's immediate needs
Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, staff, and parents
An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
Confirmed eligibility to work in the UK
Two professional references covering the last 24 months
Nice to have:
Previous experience working with SEND (in an educational or care setting)
