Job Description:

SEND Teaching Assistant – Flexible short-term and long-term opportunities available immediately. These flexible opportunities are ideal for support staff who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different school settings. You will be supporting pupils in Norwich and the surrounding areas, helping them access learning and develop confidence through tailored SEND support.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEND
  • Assist teachers in delivering differentiated and accessible learning activities
  • Help implement individual education plans and personalised support strategies
  • Support pupils with communication, sensory, physical, cognitive, or social needs
  • Promote a calm, inclusive, and positive learning environment
  • Support pupils with personal care needs where required
  • Monitor and record pupil progress and share information with staff
  • Contribute to wider school routines during longer‑term placements

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND
  • Understanding of strategies for autism, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, speech and language needs, or learning difficulties
  • Calm, patient, and nurturing approach
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Confident using behaviour management and de‑escalation strategies
  • Adaptable across different classrooms and key stages
  • Professional, reliable, and proactive
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
