Job Description

This is a full-time position for a SEND Teaching Assistant. You will be an integral part of the classroom, providing consistent support to students who require a high level of care and guidance throughout the school day. This is a role for someone who is patient, resilient, and genuinely motivated by student progress.

Job Responsibility

  • Providing 1-to-1 and small group support to ensure students engage with their individualised learning plans
  • Assisting with personal care, including hygiene, feeding, and mobility support
  • Helping students develop life skills, such as social interaction and basic independent living tasks
  • Implementing positive behaviour support strategies to ensure a safe and productive classroom environment

Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
  • Valid and proven right to work in the UK
  • Previous experience working with children or adults with complex SEND (specifically SLD or Autism)
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or Health & Social Care) are highly desirable
  • Resilience
  • Specialised Communication (Experience or strong interest in learning Makaton, PECS, or other augmentative communication methods)
  • Patience
