SEND Teaching Assistant – Full-time, temporary until July 2026 with a view to going permanent from September 2026. Job Responsibility:
Support pupils with SEND and associated needs, including SEMH and ADHD, to access learning
Assist with structured routines, behaviour support, and emotional regulation strategies
Work with staff to deliver tailored interventions that match pupils’ individual needs
Provide one-to-one and small-group support to help pupils develop confidence and independence
Help implement personalised plans and record progress effectively
Encourage positive engagement, resilience and readiness for learning
Collaborate with teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals as required
Requirements:
Experience supporting pupils with SEND, particularly SEMH or behavioural needs
Calm, patient and consistent when helping pupils manage emotions and behaviour
Able to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils who have had disrupted educational experiences
Confident using strategies to support communication, regulation and engagement
Resilient, proactive and committed to helping pupils succeed
Strong teamwork and communication skills when working within a specialised setting
