Job Description

Are you confident working with young people who need structure, patience and consistency? We are working with a specialist SEMH setting in Portsmouth looking for a resilient and proactive Teaching Assistant to support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs. This is a full-time, long-term role where you will be supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them regulate behaviour and re-engage with learning — a key part of SEMH support roles

Job Responsibility

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH and challenging behaviour
  • Building strong, consistent relationships
  • Delivering tailored support in and out of the classroom
  • Promoting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
  • Supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Helping them regulate behaviour and re-engage with learning

Requirements

  • Experience with children, young people or vulnerable individuals
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (child workforce)
  • Up-to-date safeguarding training
