Affinity Workforce Solutions are working with an outstanding special school which aims to provide innovative education and a challenging environment for pupils aged 7-19. The school specialises in educating pupils with a wide range of Social, Emotional and mental health needs. Students arrive at the Pride Academy having had very difficult experiences of school in the past. With the skill and dedication of the schools staff, they aim to reconnect them with education so they can progress to becoming successful adults via a reflective approach.
Job Responsibility
Provide a well-planned, sequenced curriculum matched to cognitive ability and individual strength
Assume responsibility for classroom management and the environment, pupils and staff including line management of class staff
Develop a provision of the highest possible quality of education and maintain a supportive atmosphere
Assist in the development of the curriculum
Be responsible for monitoring, assessing, reporting, recording, and evaluation of learning experiences
Provide learners with an effective means of communication (e.g., Symbolic, Makaton, Verbal, Gestural, AAC)
Provide a breadth of experiences that enables learners to generalise, maintain and contextualise skills/experiences
Promote opportunities for peer and social interaction to develop confidence, resilience and social skills
Plan, mark and attend staff meetings
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Experience working with SEND students, particularly those with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs
Strong classroom management skills
Ability to plan and deliver a sequenced curriculum
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Right to work in the UK
