The SEND Support Officer will provide specialist support to learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and promoting inclusive practice. This role involves coordinating support plans, delivering interventions, and working collaboratively with staff and external agencies to enable learners to achieve their full potential. Although home-based, you will be expected to travel to Head Office or Academies for key meetings and to external stakeholders where applicable.
Job Responsibility:
Assess individual needs and develop tailored support plans
Deliver targeted interventions and assistive technology support
Monitor progress and adjust strategies to meet learner outcomes
Ensure adherence to the SEND Code of Practice and Equality Act 2010
Maintain accurate records for audits and inspections
Support EHCP reviews and contribute to statutory documentation
Conduct annual reviews in line with the statutory SEND Code of Practice
Work closely with teaching staff to embed inclusive strategies
Liaise with Local Authorities, health professionals, and external agencies
Provide guidance and training to staff on SEND best practice
Act as a safeguarding advocate for learners with SEND
Escalate concerns promptly in line with policy
Conduct your role in line with the company values and expected behaviours
Promote equal opportunities and recognition of diversity throughout the company
Comply with the Safeguarding, Prevent and Health and Safety Policies and be vigilant to potential concerns and risks at all times
Ensure confidentiality and professionalism at all times
Provide learners, customers and colleagues with support, advice guidance as part of your everyday role
Requirements:
Fully qualified in SEND Level 5 Diploma in SEND, or equivalent
Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and EHCP processes
Experience supporting learners with a range of needs in education settings
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Experience in post-16 education or training environments
Knowledge of assistive technology and inclusive teaching strategies
Ability to deliver staff training on SEND topics
Empathy and resilience
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Commitment to promoting inclusion and positive outcomes
