A Primary School is seeking a caring, committed, and enthusiastic SEND Learning Support Assistant to join our supportive team in Abbey Wood. This role involves working closely with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), supporting their learning, development, and wellbeing both in and out of the classroom. You will work under the direction of the class teacher and SENDCo to help pupils access the curriculum, develop independence, and reach their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment.
Job Responsibility:
Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND
Support learning activities across the curriculum
Help implement individual education plans (IEPs/EHCPs)
Encourage positive behaviour, inclusion, and emotional regulation
Assist with personal care where required
Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals
Requirements:
Experience working with children, ideally with SEND
Patient, empathetic, and resilient
Can build positive relationships with pupils and staff
Flexible, proactive, and a strong team player
Good communication and organisational skills
Nice to have:
Experience with ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, or SEMH
