We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join the supportive team at a vibrant and inclusive school, located in the heart of the community. Job Responsibility:
Support individual students or small groups in the classroom, focusing on their specific learning and emotional needs
Assist in the preparation and adaptation of learning materials to make them accessible to students with SEND
Implement specific intervention strategies, under the direction of the class teacher/SENCO, such as phonics, social skills or sensory breaks
Help manage challenging behaviour, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment
Monitor and record student progress, providing clear feedback to teachers and the SENCO
Foster student independence, self-esteem and social development
Liaise effectively with teachers, parents, and external professionals, maintaining confidentiality at all times
Requirements:
A genuine passion for working with children and supporting those with SEND
Proven experience working with children, preferably in an educational or care setting
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly and effectively
A resilient, patient, and flexible approach to working in a dynamic school environment
The ability to work effectively as part of a team, but also to show initiative and work independently
A relevant Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or equivalent) is desirable, but not essential if you have extensive experience
