Job Description:

Are you a Learning Mentor or Learning Support Assistant who would like to join our community at Elmfield and have the opportunity to work in a Steiner Waldorf school? We have an exciting opportunity to support students from Key Stage 2 and 3 in accessing the curriculum and ensuring academic progress. The exact timetable will be confirmed with the class teacher on appointment. Elmfield Rudolf Steiner School is an independent school located in Stourbridge, 30 minutes from Birmingham, Worcester and Wolverhampton, and only a few minutes from the Clent Hills. We follow the Steiner Waldorf curriculum, providing all-round education for children aged 3-17 years. Our most recent Ofsted inspection rated all areas of the school as “Good”. We are committed to inspirational, hands-on, creative education, which fosters a lifelong love of learning and gives young people an outstanding preparation for life. Our aim is to nurture creative confident, social, responsible young people and support them to reach their full potential.

Job Responsibility:

  • Applying agreed strategies, maintaining records and updating our SENDCo with progress
  • Regular one-to-one work with students, often with a particular student whose needs are laid out in an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
  • Supporting identified children within the classroom
  • Join in and contribute to classroom activities with all children when appropriate
  • Support students from Key Stage 2 and 3 in accessing the curriculum and ensuring academic progress

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Ability to see well beyond simply providing help, focusing more on enabling independent learning and progress
  • Prepared to independently research relevant conditions and attend relevant training to support existing knowledge and experience
  • Team player
  • Right skillset to work with students with a mixture of needs of complex learning needs both SEMH needs to specific learning difficulties such as Dyslexia and Dyscalculia
