This role is based in the SEND education service and will report directly to the Designated Social Care officer. You will work with colleagues across the department and with partner agencies primarily education settings and health services.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and develop a small, dedicated team providing statutory, impartial information, advice and support to children and young people with SEND and their parents/carers
Ensure the service meets all requirements of the SEND Code of Practice and achieves high standards of accessibility, independence and quality
Oversee casework and manage complex enquiries
Build strong relationships with education, health and social care partners while maintaining the impartiality and independence required of SENDIASS
Use data, feedback and local intelligence to drive service improvements and tailor support to the needs of Warrington’s communities
Promote the service across the borough and champion the voices of children, young people and families
To provide high quality advice guidance and targeted support which helps parents/carers and young people to navigate the SEND system in Warrington
Requirements:
Experience of working directly with children and families with SEND
Educated to degree level or equivalent
Excellent knowledge of the SEND legal framework
Experience of managing staff and service development
Good communication skills
Ability to mediate and find resolution in complex situations
DBS clearance
Ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English
