Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with a strong SEND focus to join a supportive and inclusive school setting. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone experienced in working with pupils with additional needs who is ready to take on a more impactful role in supporting teaching, learning, and pupil development. As an SEND HLTA, you will play a key role in delivering tailored learning, leading interventions, and occasionally covering lessons to ensure continuity of learning. Working closely with the SENCO, teachers, and wider support team, you will help create a structured, nurturing environment that supports pupils with diverse needs to build confidence, independence, and achieve their potential.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead small group and whole-class sessions, adapting learning to meet SEND needs
  • Deliver targeted interventions and support personalised learning plans (EHCPs/IEPs)
  • Support pupils with additional needs to engage, regulate, and succeed in the classroom
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals to support progress

Requirements

  • HLTA status or relevant experience within a SEND setting
  • Strong understanding of a range of special educational needs and strategies to support them
  • Patient, adaptable, and confident approach with excellent communication skills
